Mute mode, incorrect output routing, an HDMI device or software settings can cause silence. After excluding these, speaker resistance, cabling, amplifier IC and mainboard audio path are tested.
Distorted sound also requires speaker and supply-filter checks. A factory reset is used only after explaining possible settings loss.
